For more information, visit our website.\nRead more about our benefits and what it's like to work at Uppsala University\nProject Description\nThis position is part of the project \"Electrolyte Volume Metrology for Sustainable Lithium-ion Batteries,\" which aims to develop a new, minimally invasive gas sorption technique to quantify electrolyte volume in commercial lithium-ion cells based on gas dissolution in the electrolyte.\nThe project is funded through the Novo Nordisk Foundation's Pioneer Innovator Grant, which is based on an invention encompassing the method and apparatus for determining electrolyte amount in commercial lithium-ion batteries.\nResponsibilities\nAssist in setting up and conducting experiments to study electrolyte behavior in commercial lithium-ion batteries, under the guidance of the project's researchers.\nSupport the ongoing operation and maintenance of the test bench, including data logging and basic troubleshooting of the software interface.\nPerform gas solubility measurements in electrolyte formulations according to established protocols.\nContribute to documenting experimental procedures and results in lab notebooks, standard operating procedures (SOP), and internal reports.\nParticipate in project team meetings and contribute to data organization and preliminary analysis.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nEmployment as a research assistant requires that you are enrolled as a student at the undergraduate or graduate level, preferably in chemistry, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.\nAdditional qualifications:\nBasic knowledge of electrochemistry or battery technology (e.g., from coursework) acquired during your studies; previous practical experience with lithium-ion batteries is advantageous but not required.\nInterest in and willingness to learn experimental laboratory work, including practical use of test equipment under supervision; previous lab experience (from coursework or thesis work) is an advantage.\nBasic skills in data processing and analysis (e.g., Excel, Python, or MATLAB).\nVery good spoken and written English skills.\n\nDesirable\/Advantageous\nExperience with safe handling and testing of large-format Li-ion cells and with using pressurized gas equipment.\n\nAbout the Position\nThis is a fixed-term employment according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5 \u00a7 12, until August 31, 2027.
