The museum's collections contain extensive photographic material depicting people, places, activities and events connected to the sea and Gothenburg. We are now seeking an image coordinator who wants to help structure, document and make accessible parts of this valuable photo collection.\nIn this role, you will work with inventorying and reviewing the museum's photographic archive, which includes glass plates, negatives and paper copies. You identify and select photographs for future thematic exhibitions and work with scanning, registration, basic image editing and documentation in the museum's collections database. An important part of the work is also conducting research in archives and secondary literature to develop context, captions and factual material.\nYou are also responsible for ensuring correct handling of image copyright and documenting rights as well as establishing and managing agreements for image use, transfer and licenses. The work is conducted in close collaboration with the exhibitions producer and collections staff. Other tasks may occur based on operational needs.\nThis is a project position at 80 percent for the period November 1, 2026 to October 31, 2027. Working hours are during daytime, Monday to Friday.\nQualifications\nWe are looking for someone who has:\nPost-secondary education in a relevant field of knowledge, such as cultural heritage, museology, archive and information science, photo history, history or ethnology, or professional experience that the employer considers equivalent.\nExperience with visual cultural heritage or image management.\nExperience with research and information retrieval.\nGood ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing and writes grammatically correct Swedish.\nGood digital competence and experience working in modern digital environments.\nGood research skills in archives and secondary literature.\nBasic knowledge of image editing software.\n\nIt is advantageous if you have:\nExperience working in a museum or cultural historical institution.\nExperience with exhibition production.\nExperience working in databases or collection systems.\nExperience working with copyright issues related to photography.\nKnowledge of maritime history or Gothenburg history.\n\nWho thrives in this role?\nYou work methodically and carefully and find it easy to structure large amounts of information and follow work from review and research to registration and final material.
