More information is available on our website.\nRead more about our benefits and what it is like to work at Uppsala University.\nResponsibilities\nWe are seeking a motivated and ambitious PhD student for theoretical studies of ion transport in solid battery materials. The project aims to deepen the fundamental understanding of the mechanisms governing ion transport in solid polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries.\nThe research will focus on developing new and computationally efficient multiscale modeling strategies, enabling systematic studies of ion conductivity in complex battery materials at large scales. Model-generated data will be used to identify important relationships between material structure and ion conductivity using advanced data analysis and machine learning methods. The expected scientific outcome is to provide guidelines for identifying and optimizing promising electrolyte materials and to contribute to the development of future battery technologies.\nThe project is financed by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and will be conducted within the Structural Chemistry research program at Uppsala University, which encompasses both the Materials Computational Chemistry research environment and the \u00c5ngstr\u00f6m Advanced Battery Centre (\u00c5ABC). The PhD student will be an active part of both environments.\nThe PhD student's main responsibilities are to conduct research studies, which include active participation in research projects and doctoral courses. Tasks may also include teaching and other commitments (maximum 20%). There may be both shorter and longer business trips.\nQualification Requirements\nThe applicant must have:\nobtained a degree at advanced level or\ncompleted course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits at advanced level (of which 15 credits constitute independent work), with content relevant to doctoral education or\nin another way, within or outside the country, acquired substantially equivalent knowledge\na basic degree or equivalent as above in the field of chemistry, physics, materials science and\/or computer science\nvery good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.\n\nGreat weight will also be given to personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, drive and independence, as well as how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to have the ability needed to complete doctoral education.\nDesirable\/Meritorious Additional Qualifications\nA background in physics and\/or chemistry with specialization in materials science is desirable, as are good knowledge in data management and programming, as well as familiarity with computational chemistry methods.\nAbout the Position\nThe position is time-limited according to HF 5 kap \u00a7 7.
