Welcome to apply for a job with us!\n \nWe are now looking for 1-2 PhD students for the Division of Computer Vision and Learning Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ISY).\n \nYour responsibilities\nWithin the research unit for visual learning theory, the PhD student will develop methods for interpretable latent representations and implicit neural models. Felsberg.\nAs a PhD student, you will devote yourself to your doctoral education and research projects in which you participate. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental assignments, up to 20 percent of full-time.\n \nYour qualifications\nYou have completed a degree at advanced level in computer science and engineering, or applied mathematics, applied physics and electrical engineering, where you have completed courses of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level in computer vision or equivalent. Alternatively, you have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way. The degree requirement must be met by the time the employment decision is made, that is, when the employment contract is signed.\nYou must have strong mathematical skills and experience in machine learning, programming and analyzing visual data.\nFurthermore, you have the ability to work long-term and drive projects forward even when challenges arise. You enjoy working results-oriented and strive to deliver work of high scientific quality. The role requires that you collaborate well with others in the research environment while being clear in your communication. We place great emphasis on a quality-conscious work approach and that you have strong language and analytical skills, which means that you can process text, theory and research literature in a structured and reflective manner. You also have well-developed problem-solving skills and can analyze complex research questions, identify relevant approaches and independently drive your work forward.\nSince our activities have an international character, you are required to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.\n \nIt is meriting if you have previous publications from conferences in computer vision or machine learning.\n \nYour workplace\nThe Division of Computer Vision and Learning Systems (CVL) at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ISY) has a dynamic research environment with a total of approximately 40 employees. This includes six faculty members, assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, where PhD students make up half of the staff, as well as several adjunct researchers. CVL conducts research and education at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral level in machine learning for computer vision.\nLiU has been mentioned as one of Sweden's strongest AI universities in Vinnova's 2025 report.
