Chemicum, with more than 200 employees, is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University. Research at Chemicum spans all areas of chemistry including analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry, and organic chemistry. Research projects range from theory to experiment, from fundamental research to more applied projects, often with a focus on sustainable chemistry as well as advanced analytical methods for chemicals and materials. Chemicum has a well-developed research infrastructure with extensive equipment and qualified support from staff researchers.
Chemicum also hosts chemistry education at the bachelor's level and three master's programs: analytical chemistry, sustainable chemistry, and organic chemistry. Doctoral education is conducted in five areas: analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry.
More information about us can be found at: Chemicum
Project Description
The project aims to develop and validate concentrated dispersions of aminated nanoparticles for carbon dioxide separation, with a particular focus on biogas upgrading. The goal is to determine desorption conditions, including optimal temperature, the formation energy of carbamates, and an estimate of cyclic energy consumption. Particular attention will also be given to defining absorption isotherms under conditions relevant to biogas upgrading and flue gas treatment. Spectroscopic characterization will be central.
The project also aims to investigate and map techniques within biogas upgrading and to examine how concentrated dispersions can be used for biogas upgrading.
Duties
Duties include characterization and evaluation of concentrated dispersions, particularly with regard to thermal release of carbon dioxide, and calorimetric determination of the binding energy of carbamates and total energy consumption.
A portion of the work involves contact with actors in the biogas sector.
Qualifications
A researcher is employed primarily for research and must hold a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree.
Evaluation Criteria
Special emphasis will be placed on scientific proficiency in the selection. Knowledge of carbon dioxide separation and the value chains relevant to creating added value is also meritorious.
About the Position
The position is full-time and limited to a maximum of 12 months. Start date by agreement.
What We Offer
With us, you will experience the dynamic interplay between higher education and research that makes Stockholm University an exciting and creative environment. You will work in an international setting and receive favorable terms. The University is located in Nationalstadsparken with good connections to the city.
Stockholm University is committed to being a workplace free from discrimination and providing equal rights and opportunities for all.
Contact
Information about the position is provided by the department head, Professor Niklas Hedin, phone 08-16 24 17, niklas.hedin@su.se.
Application
You apply for the position via Stockholm University's recruitment system. Enclose a cover letter and CV along with the attachments requested in the application form. As an applicant, you are responsible for ensuring that your application is complete and submitted to the University no later than the final application deadline.
Instructions for applicants can be found on the webpage: applying for a position.
Stockholm University contributes to the development of a sustainable democratic society through knowledge, enlightenment, and the pursuit of truth.
Kemikum, med fler än 200 medarbetare, är en av de största institutionerna vid Stockholms universitet.
