The division employs around 80 people.\n\nAbout the Workplace\nAle's public libraries comprise four libraries located in Surte, N\u00f6dinge, \u00c4lv\u00e4ngen, and Skepplanda. Library operations are conducted at multiple worksites with different conditions and needs. The operations are staffed by just over twelve librarians who are responsible for both daily operations and a broad and varied program offering. The mission to promote reading holds a central role and is carried out in close collaboration with preschools, schools, the cultural school, and leisure activities.\n\nCulture is an important part of our lifeblood and an important reason why it's a great place to live, reside, and work in Ale. Culture touches all Ale residents in one way or another. Therefore, we work together within library operations to strengthen cultural life in the municipality. We create opportunities for residents and visitors to both participate in and create culture themselves.\n\nDuties\nAs a unit manager, you have responsibility for operations, personnel, budget, and work environment. You lead and organize the daily work within library operations. In your role, you are expected to:\n\nDrive, develop, and innovate the operations\nAct to ensure high quality for Ale residents\nLead the operations with a clear focus on achieving operational goals\nFollow up on goals and results\nCreate participation within the operations\nWork for good financial management and resource utilization\nFurther develop the library as a modern, accessible, and relevant meeting place\nDevelop and strengthen employees with confidence in their capabilities\n\nQualifications\nFor this role with us, we see that you have an academic degree in library and information science, cultural studies, humanities, or other education that we deem relevant. You should have good knowledge of the Swedish library system, literature, and reading promotion initiatives. You have prior experience working as a manager with responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel. You communicate very well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and have worked for a number of years in libraries and\/or cultural activities previously.\n\nA degree from library school is a merit. As is completion of a leadership development program, previous employment as a library unit manager, and experience working in a politically governed organization. Knowledge of and experience in change management is also a merit. We also welcome experience with digitalization and the implementation of new digital technology.\n\nAs a manager, you are socially confident and have the ability to build strong relationships both within and outside the organization. You have the ability to represent the operations and communicate visions and goals in a clear and inspiring manner. You have a development-oriented mindset and strive to improve operations based on users' needs.
