Recess supervision and recess activities are among the class mentors' most important tasks.\n\nJob Responsibilities\nA substitute teacher's role is to step in and cover for absent staff at the school, for example as a teacher, student assistant, or class mentor. You will typically work from prepared lesson plans, and the work is highly varied. You will cover absences in lower or upper elementary.
