When the remand facility opens, there will be 56 places for remand prisoners and 101 prison places for men.\nJob Description\nAs a correctional officer, you work in a team with other professions to maintain a safe and secure facility and motivate clients toward a life without crime. The role of correctional officer involves a structured and routine-based approach with risk assessment and security awareness as focus areas.\nYour daily work includes locking and unlocking residential units, inspections of premises, and supervision, as well as conducting conversations and preparing inmates for release. The work is varied and offers many development opportunities for those seeking continued employment. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's core values of a humane approach to people, respect for the individual, and belief in people's capacity to develop and change.\nThe probationary period begins with three weeks of local orientation at the prison. After a few months of service, we will schedule your participation in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's mandatory basic training. The training encompasses eight weeks and takes place during paid working hours. Evaluations are conducted continuously, and the probationary period transitions to a permanent position after six months.\nQualifications\nYour personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be confident, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the facility's operations, so you need good collaboration skills and clear communication.
