Support Labs therefore plays a crucial role in enabling users to conduct their experiments safely and efficiently, in accordance with established procedures and laboratory standards.\nWould you like to work at one of the world's strongest light sources?\nMAX IV is seeking an experienced laboratory technician for the Support Labs team.\nAn important part of the role is to ensure that the chemicals and laboratory materials required for experiments are available, properly registered, stored safely, and prepared and delivered correctly.\nYou will support the daily operations of Support Labs and work closely with group leaders, laboratory staff, beamline teams, and users on chemical management, laboratory safety, and risk assessments. This is a hands-on technical role with a strong focus on chemical handling, laboratory operations, user support, and training.\nOur laboratories' needs and priorities may vary depending on ongoing experiments and user activities. We are therefore seeking someone who is flexible, service-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment, while maintaining a structured approach and consistently following established laboratory and safety procedures.\nYour Main Responsibilities Will Include\nManage\/support the ordering, receipt, storage, and availability of chemicals, personal protective equipment, and laboratory consumables.\nRegister incoming chemicals in KLARA or equivalent systems.\nPrepare chemicals, solutions, and materials for staff and user experiments.\nOrganize and maintain safe chemical storage and laboratory environments that meet applicable requirements.\nConduct annual chemical inventories for labs and beamlines.\nProvide practical support with chemical handling and introductions for staff and users.\nSupport risk assessments, laboratory safety, and systematic workplace health measures.\nSupport Science division management on matters related to chemical handling and safety responsibilities.\nMaintain and improve laboratory procedures, documentation, routines, and workflows.\nSupport beamline operations, including mail-in experiments, sample logistics, and 3D printing.\n\nTo Succeed in This Role, You Must Have the Following Qualifications\nA bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as chemistry, chemical engineering, bioscience, or equivalent.\nExperience working in a laboratory environment, preferably at a large-scale research or user facility.\nPractical experience as a laboratory technician working in both shared laboratories and multi-user facilities, with at least one year of experience in user support.\nPractical experience providing guidance, mentoring, and training in biological or chemical laboratory environments.\nDocumented experience in safe handling and storage of chemicals and daily laboratory routines.\nPractical experience organizing chemical storage, including proper segregation and storage of different types of chemicals.\nStrong ability to follow, apply, and ensure that standard procedures and safety instructions are adhered to.\nExperience managing chemical inventories, including registration, inventory control, storage locations, and disposal of outdated or unwanted chemicals.\nAbility to work independently in daily operations while coordinating work with your team.\nA clear service-oriented mindset and experience supporting researchers or users in a laboratory environment.\nVery good spoken and written English, as daily interaction with international users is required.\n\nThe Following Are Considered Assets\nExperience using laboratory management or booking systems.\nExperience writing standard operating procedures (SOPs), instructions, or laboratory documentation.\nDocumented experience with routine operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment used in sample environment facilities, such as 3D printers, processing tools, etc.\n\nAs a Person, You Are\nA collaborative team player with strong communication skills, service-oriented and committed to supporting users in achieving their scientific goals.
