We have approximately 400 employees at the Heart Center.\n\nThoracic Surgery is part of the Heart Center and employs anesthesia nurses, operating room nurses, nursing assistants, and perfusionists. Over 1000 procedures are performed annually across four operating rooms. Thoracic Surgery performs thoracic surgical procedures, primarily cardiac and lung surgery, as well as thoracic vascular surgery and chest wall correction procedures. Thorax has regional responsibility and receives patients from across the Northern Region.\n\nThe operating rooms are bright, functional, and most are equipped with laminar flow ventilation. Working as an operating room nurse with us means being responsible, together with the anesthesia nurse, for perioperative care. This role includes practical tasks such as instrumentation and assistance in the operating room, as well as non-technical skills such as communication and teamwork. The operating room nurse is also responsible for tasks including inventory management, sterility monitoring, and functional testing of medical equipment.\n\nThe assignment includes documentation, development of methods, and mentoring of students and new staff. Additionally, assisting with all tasks occurring in the department within the employee's area of competence.\n\nWorking hours are daytime; Monday\u2013Friday 40 hours\/week.
