The position is a temporary employment with a maximum period of 3 years.\nThe main responsibility of this position is to contribute to research projects focusing on modelling, optimization, control, and AI applications for smart buildings. The work includes collaboration with international research and industrial partners, publication of scientific articles, and responsibility for the implementation and reporting of project activities.\nThe position may include teaching activities corresponding to up to 20% of full-time employment within the areas of energy engineering, building engineering, or environmental engineering.\nQualification requirements\nThe applicant is required to have a PhD degree in energy engineering, building engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant technical fields relevant to the position. The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. You have not previously held a position as a postdoctoral researcher in the same or related subject area at MDU that exceeds one year.\nApplicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in:\nSimulation software for building and district energy systems, both commercial and open-source;\nOptimization of building energy consumption, both electrical and thermal;\nModelling, optimization and\/or control of either buildings or energy systems;\nProgramming in Python, MATLAB, or similar.\n\nExcellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.\nAssessment criteria\nParticular emphasis will be placed on knowledge and experience in:\nParticipation in international projects involving academic and industrial partners;\nElectrification of the heating sector and the interaction between heating and electrical systems;\nModelling, optimization, analysis and\/or control of renewable energy technologies and energy storage technologies in buildings;\nAI methods applied to building or energy systems;\nDistrict heating systems.\n\nIn an overall assessment of suitability, emphasis is also placed on personal abilities.
