You will contribute to developing and maintaining tomographic imaging methods and support future beamline users. The project is led by TomoWISE's principal beamline scientist, and during the project period, the team will be part of the Beamline Office Group within the scientific division.\nWould you like to work at one of the world's strongest light sources?\nMAX IV is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in sustainable materials research, enthusiasm for advancing materials science research through tomographic imaging, and a strong commitment to contributing to the scientific community.\nThe successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to participate in and contribute to building a new beamline and be part of its initial scientific program, with the possibility of early commissioning of the large beam option in 2028. In addition to contributing to the beamline project and preparing for its future capacity, the candidate is expected to conduct an independent research project, ideally in collaboration with current and future MAX IV users.\nYour Main Responsibilities Will Be\nContribute to the installation and commissioning of beamline instrumentation, including optics, sample holders, and detectors.\nContribute to the implementation of relevant software for tomographic reconstruction and image analysis, in collaboration with the Beamline team and other internal resources.\nDrive your own research program, within national and international collaborations, focusing on materials for sustainability.\nPresent and publish your research results internally and at conferences, workshops, and in peer-reviewed scientific journals.\nEngage with MAX IV's user community and contribute to the team's outreach activities.\n\nTo Succeed in This Role, You Should Have the Following Qualifications\nA doctorate degree in a STEM field.\nExperience in materials science research or development of tomographic methods, with a genuine scientific interest in a materials science area (e.g., structural materials, energy materials, geology, functional materials for sustainability).\nExperience with experimental research, focusing on microscopy and imaging, preferably using X-ray radiation. This includes practical work with instrumentation, commissioning, as well as data collection and analysis.\nDocumented ability to drive research projects from proposal to publication, with a collaborative approach.\nExperience presenting at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.\nFluent English\u2014both spoken and written.\n\nThe Following Are Considered Merits\nExperience and ability to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment at a large user facility.\nA practical approach with commitment to experimental work.\nExperience working in large collaborative teams.\nAbility to collaborate across disciplines and coordinate with internal and external partners.\nBackground in scientific programming is highly desirable.\nKnowledge of AI\/ML-based methods for image reconstruction, segmentation, or quantitative data analysis is considered a merit.\n\nAs a person, you are curious, self-driven, flexible, communicative, and committed to teamwork.
