The position may be fixed-term for a maximum of 3 years.\n\nThe primary responsibility for this position is to contribute to research projects focused on modeling, optimization, control, and AI applications for smart buildings. The work includes collaboration with international research and industry partners, publication of scientific articles, and responsibility for implementing and reporting project activities.\n\nThe position may include teaching activities up to 20 percent of working time in energy engineering, building technology, or environmental engineering.\n\nEligibility Requirements\nWe are seeking a candidate who has completed a doctoral degree in energy engineering, building technology, mechanical engineering, or another relevant engineering field no more than three years before the application deadline. You have not previously held a postdoctoral position in the same or related field at MDU lasting more than one year.\n\nThe applicant must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with:\n- Simulation software for building and district energy systems, both commercial and open-source;\n- Optimization of building energy consumption, both electrical and thermal;\n- Modeling, optimization, and\/or control of either buildings or energy systems;\n- Programming in Python, MATLAB, or similar.\n\nThis position also requires strong oral and written communication skills in English.\n\nEvaluation Criteria\nSpecial weight will be given to knowledge and experience with:\n- Work on international projects with academic and industry partners;\n- Electrification of the heating sector and the interaction between heating and electricity systems;\n- Modeling, optimization, analysis, and\/or control of renewable technology and storage technology in buildings;\n- AI methods applied to building or energy systems;\n- District heating systems.\n\nIn an overall assessment of suitability, personal qualities will also be considered.
