Learn more at: www.sdcn.se.\nProject Description\nThe Trapped Ion Quantum Technology group at Stockholm University seeks a postdoctoral researcher for our experimental research on trapped ions. The purpose of the position is to investigate open spin-boson systems with trapped ions. The position is part of the QuantERA project \"Collective quantum phenomena in dissipative systems \u2013 towards time-crystal applications in sensing and metrology (CoQuaDis)\".\nThe CoQuaDis project aims to study many-body phases in open quantum systems and demonstrate their applications in sensing and metrology. At Stockholm University, we realize such systems using crystals of trapped ions, which provide long trapping times, controllable interactions mediated by collective vibrations, and in situ cooling. This enables stable operation and continuous readout of dissipative many-body phases. This highly controllable platform allows us to address fundamental questions in open quantum many-body dynamics.\nThe position is experimental and will be conducted within the Trapped Ion Quantum Technology group at Stockholm University. It involves close collaboration with theorists at the University of T\u00fcbingen, Germany, and at IFISC, Mallorca, Spain.\nWe seek a candidate interested in working with quantum experiments using trapped ions. For more information about our group and ongoing projects, visit https:\/\/qtech.fysik.su.se\/.\nResponsibilities\nThe position includes:\nPerforming precision measurements and data analysis of dynamics in open quantum systems in a trapped ion system.\nInvestigating new applications of quantum simulations of open systems based on trapped ions.\nClose collaboration with theoretical teams at the University of T\u00fcbingen and at IFISC, Mallorca.\nAssistance in supervising doctoral and master's students in the laboratory.\nContributing to grant reports and documentation related to the QuantERA project CoQuaDis.\n\nQualifications\nTo be eligible for a postdoctoral position, a doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a relevant doctoral degree is required. The degree must be completed no later than when the employment decision is made.\nSelection Criteria\nIt is meritorious if the doctoral degree or equivalent was completed no more than three years before the application deadline. If there are special reasons, an earlier completed degree may also be considered meritorious. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust within labor organizations, service in the armed forces, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or relevant service\/assignments in the field.\nIn the selection process, particular weight will be given to knowledge and experience in experimental research in quantum optics or quantum information, experience with trapped ions or atoms, quantum simulations, or high-precision laser spectroscopy.\nWe welcome applications from candidates with:\nA doctoral degree in experimental physics, quantum optics, atomic physics, trapped ions, or a related field.\nStrong practical experimental skills, particularly with laser systems, optics, and\/or quantum control techniques.\nWillingness to collaborate with both experimentalists and theorists.\n\nAbout the Position\nThe position is full-time and is open-ended, but for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years, with the possibility of extension if there are special reasons.
