To implement this project, we are forming a specialized team to develop the beamline into a fully operational facility.\nAs part of this team, currently consisting of a leading beamline scientist, a research engineer, and a data scientist, you will collaborate closely with experts in both the technical and scientific divisions to plan, install, and commission advanced infrastructure and equipment. You will contribute to developing and maintaining methods for tomographic imaging and support future users of the beamline. The project is led by the TomoWISE beamline's principal scientist, and during the project period, the team will be part of the Beamline Office Group within the scientific division.\nWould you like to work at one of the world's brightest light sources?\nMAX IV is seeking a scientist with extensive experience in instrument and\/or method development for tomography, and a proven commitment to supporting and serving the scientific community. The ideal candidate has a background in materials science and a passion for advancing research on sustainable materials.\nThe successful candidate will contribute to building a new beamline and help shape its initial scientific program, starting during the early commissioning of the large beam option in 2028. In addition to contributing to the beamline project and preparing for its future capacity, the successful applicant is expected to propose and conduct an independent research project, preferably in collaboration with current and future MAX IV users.\nYour Main Responsibilities Will Be\nContribute to the installation and commissioning of instrumentation at the beamline, including optics, sample holders, and detectors.\nContribute to the implementation of relevant software for tomographic reconstruction and image analysis, in collaboration with the beamline team and other internal resources.\nDrive a research program within national and international collaborations, focusing on materials for sustainability.\nPresent and publish research results internally and at conferences, workshops, and in peer-reviewed journals.\nCollaborate with MAX IV's user community, give presentations, initiate collaborations, and actively contribute to the team's outreach activities.\n\nTo Succeed in the Role, You Must Have the Following Qualifications\nA PhD in a STEM field.\nA strong scientific profile in materials science, with documented research experience and genuine scientific drive in a materials science area (e.g., structural materials, energy materials, geology, functional materials for sustainability).\nExtensive background in tomographic imaging or related X-ray microscopy techniques, including practical experience with integration, commissioning, and validation of complex instruments\u2014encompassing both hardware (optics, sample holders, detectors) and software (data acquisition, instrument control systems, and data analysis).\nExtensive background in experimental research, with a focus on microscopy and imaging, preferably using X-ray radiation.\nDocumented ability to drive research projects from proposal to publication, with a collaborative working approach.\nExperience presenting at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.\nFluent English\u2014spoken and written.\n\nThe Following Are Considered Merits\nPrevious experience working at a synchrotron radiation facility or similar environment.\nDocumented ability to lead your own research program, for example through previously awarded grants.\nExperience and ability to prioritize and communicate effectively in the fast-paced environment of a large-scale user facility.\nA practical approach and commitment to experimental work.\nExperience working in large collaborative teams, including mentoring students, supervision, and research grant applications.\nAbility to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams and coordinate with internal and external partners.\nBackground in scientific programming is highly desirable.\nKnowledge of AI\/ML-based methods for image reconstruction, segmentation, or quantitative data analysis is considered a merit.\n\nAs a person, you are curious, self-driven, flexible, communicative, and committed to teamwork.
