The subject area of animal reproduction encompasses fertility and reproduction in domesticated animals. It includes the subdisciplines of andrology, gynecology, obstetrics and mammary gland diseases, as well as biotechnology, endocrinology and toxicology relevant to the subject area.\nDuties\nThe applicant will be expected to:\ndevelop and lead internationally successful research;\ndevelop, lead and participate in teaching at first, second and third cycle level;\nprimarily teach animal reproduction, in addition to other components at first, second and third cycle level covering the subject;\ndevelop and maintain national and international networks with academia, the relevant public authorities, industry, organisations and society at large;\ncollaborate with other SLU research teams to strengthen interdisciplinary activities at the university;\napply for external research funding from both national and international sources;\nsupervise doctoral students (and Bachelor's students undergoing specialist training);\nactively participate in clinical work and teaching;\ncontribute to the strategic development of the department, faculty and SLU;\ncommunicate research findings and other relevant information to society at large;\nperform administrative duties within the department, faculty and university.\n\nThe department uses Swedish and English in parallel. The senior lecturer should be able to perform the majority of their tasks in English. However, as a public authority, the university has Swedish as its main language according to the requirements of the Language Act and the senior lecturer must be able to use Swedish as their working language within four years of beginning the position. The department will provide support with language learning.\nEligibility\nThe applicant must:\nhave a degree in Veterinary Medicine and be licensed to practise veterinary medicine in Sweden, or be entitled to obtain such a licence in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and directives;\nhave successfully completed a doctoral degree or have the equivalent academic qualifications;\ndemonstrate research expertise in the subject for the appointment;\ndemonstrate teaching expertise and have the ability to integrate research and a scientific approach into their teaching;\nhave experience of teaching at first, second and third cycle level;\nhave proven clinical experience in a subject field relevant to the position;\nhave good knowledge of English.\n \nAct on Activities within Animal Healthcare, Chapter 3.
