The subject area of small animal surgery encompasses surgery, primarily in dogs and cats, and includes subdisciplines such as soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, dentistry, ophthalmology and orthopedics. Within the subject area, methodological development is undertaken to improve the diagnosis, prognostication, treatment and prevention of diseases, injuries and complications, including studies of risk factors.\nDuties\nThe applicant will be expected to:\nDevelop and lead internationally successful research;\nDevelop, lead and participate in teaching at first, second and third cycle level;\nPrimarily teach small animal surgery, in addition to other components at first, second and third cycle level covering the subject;\nDevelop and maintain national and international networks with academia, the relevant public authorities, industry, organizations and society at large;\nCollaborate with other SLU research teams to strengthen interdisciplinary activities at the university;\nApply for external research funding from both national and international sources;\nSupervise doctoral students (and Bachelor's students undergoing specialist training);\nActively participate in clinical work and teaching;\nContribute to the strategic development of the department, faculty and SLU;\nCommunicate research findings and other relevant information to society at large;\nPerform administrative duties within the department, faculty and university.\n\nThe department uses Swedish and English in parallel. The senior lecturer should be able to perform the majority of their tasks in English. However, as a public authority, the university has Swedish as its main language according to the requirements of the Language Act and the senior lecturer must be able to use Swedish as their working language within four years of beginning the position.
