You will be part of the long-term technical services team which is working on the mid- to long-term planning and Garpenberg operations regarding both spatial extension of mining footprint and ore tonnage production increase in a way that is efficient and ensures long term stability, even at higher mining rates and greater depths. This section comprises of mine geology, rock mechanics, long- and mid-term planning and mine infrastructure. You will work together with our geotechnical team of 6 geotechnical engineers and technicians, where you will support more junior engineers and technicians in their development. You will also coordinate the work of external consultants working on long-term studies supporting Garpenberg's strategic goals.\nYour work will also involve interaction with consultants and other technical experts across Boliden's operations. The Geotechnical network in the Boliden Mines is geographically distributed, but you will have regular opportunities for knowledge sharing and joint problem-solving in cross-functional projects. The geotechnical department at the Boliden Mines Staff is composed of numerous geotechnical engineers, seniors and specialists from various nationalities which instills a unique, welcoming culture that caters for a thriving environment.\n\n\nWhat you will do\nWork with our Mine planning engineers within Long-term planning and provide geotechnical input into LOMP designs and sequences as well as to our mid-range planning horizon\nConduct geotechnical risk assessment of LOMP and Budget plans including stope dimensions, mining sequence, infrastructure placements and ground support designs\nSupport numerical stress modelling and geotechnical analysis for mine design and planning\nWork closely together with exploration and mine geology to develop a geotechnical block model and routines to maintain it\nSupport the development of our understanding of rock mechanics, to include for example structural geology, hydrogeology or seismology\nProvide input to mine planning that enables economic extraction of Garpenberg's resources\nParticipate in research and development initiatives focused on rock mechanics and mining innovation\nProvide technical guidance and support effective collaboration across the organization\n\n\n\nWhat you bring\nA master's degree in geotechnical and\/or mining engineering\n10+ years experience with underground hard-rock mining\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to explain complex concepts clearly and proficiency in relevant software\nStrong computer skills, including experience with CAD software, preferably Deswik and other technical applications\nGood communication skills and the ability to write technical reports and communicate results to stakeholders\nAdvanced numerical modelling experience using the ITASCA suite\nExperience with seismic monitoring using the IMS suite and mXrap\nExperience with deep, seismically active underground sublevel stoping mines\nFlexibility in adjusting to large changes in a fast-paced environment\nFluency in English\nFluency in Swedish, or a willingness to learn this quickly\nValid B-class driver's license\n\n\n\nIt's an advantage if you have:\nPost-graduate degree in geotechnical and\/or mining engineering\nExperience with feasibility studies and\/or expansion projects\nLeading geotechnical teams and\/or coordination of technical consultants\n\n\n\nWhy work with us\nAt Boliden, we believe in promoting a workplace where care, courage, and responsibility are central to everything we do.
