We support Stockholmers on their journey toward work or studies through labor market initiatives and adult education.\nAbout the operation\nStudent Team Adult Education & Community Orientation (Elevteam komvux & CSO) is a unit within the department's adult education with a mission to support young adult students in beginning and completing their studies.\nThe team consists of a unit manager, coordinator, study and career advisor, study counselor, special education teacher, counselor, and administrators.\nOur current special education teacher will be on leave for a period, and we are therefore seeking a substitute for a fixed-term assignment during the leave, until April 2027.\nThe unit has developed methods for working with students who need support and extra accommodations in their studies in adult education. The target group is young adults who come from introductory programs at upper secondary school, from Youth Job Centers, and from other partner organizations to studies at adult education.\nThe unit is based in S\u00f6dermalm, but since the position involves supporting students at the department's adult education schools, you will work at various locations throughout the Stockholm area.\nThe special education teacher role\nAs a special education teacher, you work in a multidisciplinary team whose purpose is to create good conditions for students' learning. You work both operationally with students in learning situations and also strategically and preventively. You analyze students' support and accommodation needs and offer individualized support.\nYour tasks include planning, implementing, evaluating, and ensuring high-quality educational activities that create context for students' schooling. You involve the student in planning and develop their learning ability. In this role, you work closely with teaching staff at schools within adult education.\nYou also collaborate with various parties both internally within the Employment Department and externally with the Education Department, where you contribute your expertise at organizational, group, and individual levels regarding preventive measures and accommodations.\nYour competence and experience\nWe are looking for someone who has\na special education teacher degree, or alternatively completed relevant individual courses of at least 90 higher education credits with a special education focus\nexperience working as a special education teacher\ninterest and commitment to student-focused work\n\nIt is meritorious for the position if you\nare a certified teacher with qualifications for upper secondary and\/or lower secondary school\nhave experience working with youth\/adults with various native languages and in multilingual environments\ncan speak and write, in addition to Swedish, at least one additional language that is currently a common native language among students in upper secondary school and adult education\n\nAbout you\nAs a special education teacher, you are communicative, attentive, and accustomed to adapting your communication based on your audience. You are service-oriented with interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to find solutions. Since the pace can sometimes be high, you need to be able to structure and prioritize your tasks yourself. The team consists of several different professions where high demands will be placed on your ability to collaborate.
