You are head of the university administration, manage operations through the administration's department heads, and report to the rector. You are part of the university leadership and work closely with the rector, pro-rectors, and vice-rectors on matters concerning the university's overall leadership, governance, and development. The university administration's 11 departments comprise approximately 680 full-time equivalent positions.\nA central part of your role is to further develop the collaboration between the university administration and the university's core activities. Stockholm University is characterized by far-reaching delegation of decisions and a decentralized organization with a strong collegial culture, which places high demands on responsiveness, anchorage, and understanding of the different conditions of the various operations. At the same time, the University Director must ensure legal certainty, efficiency, and responsible resource utilization.\nThe university administration is well-functioning, and the role is largely about building on existing strengths. An important focus will be to develop collaboration between the administration's different divisions, strengthen common working methods, and ensure that expertise and resources are utilized across organizational boundaries.\nThe university operates in an increasingly demanding environment, with changed financing conditions, high facility costs, and increased requirements in areas such as information security, data management, and AI. This requires clear priorities, appropriate working methods, and a well-balanced approach between support, governance, and administrative burden.\nQualifications\nThe position requires an academic degree, preferably a doctorate, and proven experience of qualified management and leadership with supervisory responsibility for other managers within a large and complex organization. You also have experience in leading and collaborating in organizations with extensive service functions. Proven experience of qualified leadership within the higher education sector is meritorious.\nFurthermore, the University Director should have experience working within the higher education sector and thus experience and knowledge regarding:\nConditions for research and educational activities at a larger university or college.\nObjectives, strategies, and governance in public administration, particularly within research and education, and the organization of the higher education sector.\nOverall financial planning, resource allocation, and follow-up.\nExperience in development work and strong ability to, from a comprehensive perspective, analyze needs, prioritize, and lead and delegate.\n\nAs a person, you are confident, judicious, and solution-oriented, with the ability to handle complex issues from a holistic perspective.
