You provide support with what the child needs right then and there.\n\nYour work tasks may include playing, playing games, basic hygiene, care and support, and other aspects of everyday life. The service takes place in the home or in the nearby area, where you may, for example, go to a nearby playground or to an activity. As a companion, you accompany the child or young person to an activity and back home again; sometimes you also participate during the activity.\n\nRelief and companionship is an assistance service under the Act on Support and Services for Persons with Certain Disabilities (LSS). The relief worker position can vary in size depending on the number of hours the child has been granted. There is no scheduled work time; the hours are usually distributed in the evenings and on weekends. You and the family agree on when the hours should be worked.
